“Management Control Packages in Public Sector Organizations” is a study on managing and motivating employees in public sector organizations. The core of the thesis consists of three research papers. The first deals with a multiple case study on the impact of austerity measures on management practices. The second paper is an in-depth case study about how different control practices can complement one another. The third paper contains survey results on the impact of management practices on intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation, and performance.
